Voices from my Bunker 2020

“Voices from my Bunker 2020” is a series of interviews with all ages of people of what 2020 has been like for them.  This is a rebranded podcast that used to be named, "PODSNACKS/Art of the Diet" but the first six months of 2020 has shifted my preoccupations from five years of weight maintenance to minute by minute sanity maintenance. Attention must be paid to the issues before me. I'm 75, live in Massachusetts, and my doorbell hasn't rung in 5 months and probably won't until there's a vaccine. My hair has its own zip code and I look like the Unibomber when captured in his Montana cabin. None of which interferes with my ability, thankfully, to ask questions over a Skype connection. I'll be recording interviews until the election on Nov 3, 2020. If he is reelected, look only for my obit.

C'mon. Admit it.  Didn't it feel good to look up for a change? Some of us with our heads in cereal boxes but not for the usual reasons? Pat Coakley Zone of Totality. I love that phrase. It is my phrase of the week. It was used for the path of the eclipse where the […]

“Help! It's Groundhog Day without Bill Murray.”-Pat Coakley Here I am again, episode #105, and I was looking for a day in the week when I could put this podcast together without my country sitting in my intestinal track beyond a surgeon's knife. This isn't such a day so I'm going to try to discuss […]

“I would have assumed you understood despite our vague suggestion otherwise, we do not welcome constructive criticism.” -David Thorne There are two topics that elicit spontaneous snarkiness from folks: weight and clutter issues.  This week I am tackling both and the name of my diet book (the title seems to change from week to week) […]

“This is life. Things get taken away. You will learn to start over many times–or you will be useless.” Mitch Albom How do you know it's time to reboot your diet plan? In my case, when I declare at [1:50] PM that I am not going to eat anymore popcorn for a week and at […]

Booze takes a lot of time and effort if you're going to do a good job with it.–Raymond Carver What?  A quote about booze in a blog about weight maintenance?  Yep.  Hear me out.  The great short story writer has a famous story, “What We Talk About When We Talk About Love” and it considers love […]
